How To Make Money Singing

Does anyone know how to break into singing for money?

I would love to become a singer… please don’t tell me to take lessons, I have taken lessons for 10 years and want to actually make money, not spend it. I live in the LA area and I don’t want to do the American Idol thing. I am posted on LACasting and Actors access…any help at all would be great! Thanks!

The most secure way to make money as a musician starting out, is to form a good function band. Go and play at weddings, funerals etc. I did this for a few years, the money is great when you market yourself well.
